Company History

In 1944, H.C. (“Tim”) Timmerman and his bride, Norene, moved to Astoria, Oregon. The house they chose had an existing orchard of Old English holly trees. Recognizing the potential, land was cleared and more holly planted. Working together, they began shipping by the 1950’s. The initial shipment was a mere 250 pounds. As their trees grew, so did their sales.

Tim passed away in 1972. By that time Fernhill Holly Farms Inc. had a solid reputation within the wholesale florist industry as one who supplies an outstanding product and backs it up with great service. Norene continued the tradition with the help of her family. Then in 1979, the business was purchased by two of her children, Conrad and Evelyn.

The company ventured out in new and exciting directions. Additional products were added, land and new orchards were purchased, facilities were expanded and the customer base was enlarged.

Although business has increased many fold and the company has evolved into a major supplier of all Christmas greens and holly products both domestically and internationally, the traditions established by Tim and Norene remain intact. We take great pride in our products and in our honesty to all those with whom we deal, as well as in the service we provide.
